Financial Assistance & Tour Scholarships

It is the policy of GRGC to do its best to ensure that any singer can participate in GRGC and its sponsored events. Financial assistance is available to any singer who may have a need. Financial assistance is available for monthly tuition, uniforms, supplies fees, Tour expenses, and end-of-year events. Families in need of financial assistance at any time should contact any Board member. Singers and parents must make an application to the Board or the Treasurer. Applications may be submitted throughout the school year.

Tour Choir singers are required to participate in the "Tour" as outlined in the Introductory Packet at the beginning of each scholastic year. Tour Choir Members are eligible to apply for Tour Scholarship to assist with "Tour" related expenses. Singers & parents must make an application to the Scholarship Committee no later than December 1 for all Tour Choir singers on roll from August/September and February 1 for all singers who join the tour choir during winter auditions.

Girls who submit applications for financial assistance or tour scholarship will be evaluated based on the following selection considerations, listed in priority order:

  • Financial need or personal hardship.
  • The demonstrated commitment to the choir of the singer, as noted by behavior, work for the choir, fundraising, etc.
  • The musical ability of the singer and the number of years in the choir.
  • Absences from rehearsals and performances.
  • Limitations that tour accommodations may place on the size of the tour group. (Tour only)
  • The vocal balance of the resulting choir; that is, balance among voice parts. (Tour only)
  • Previous tour experience. (Tour only)

The application for either financial assistance or Tour scholarship is a simple form requiring name, address, brief explanation of need and the amount of assistance requested. The form is submitted to the Scholarship Committee. A member of the committee will contact the family to discuss the request in sufficient detail to make a recommendation to the Financial Assistance and Scholarship Committee. The Financial Assistance and Scholarship Committee submits their recommendation to the GRGC Board. The recommendation only includes the amount recommended and a brief description of the need. Typically, only the Treasurer and the Scholarship Committee are aware of scholarship details.
